The HoloLens for Held+Team


For more than 25 years, the daily exchange with our customers has been an elementary part of our work. In the beginning we communicated via telephone and e-mail, today's communication is mainly via video transmission.

Due to the large number of international customers in the USA, Japan and China the Video transmission has become very useful for us, since the project managers do not have to travel separately. A screen transmission in which renderings are shown is however often not sufficient to exchange information with our customers at our high level of detail. And especially large, complex products and Design drafts cannot easily be printed in 3D.

In order to improve the quality of communication with our international customers, we have now taken an important step towards the future. With the acquisition of the new HoloLens technology from Microsoft. These are mixed reality glasses. This means that the user continues to perceive the real world and is shown additional information.


How it works


The HoloLens works independently and can be operated wirelessly without a PC. Holograms and information are created by three points of light. The glasses are controlled by head movements and gestures.


A multitude of new possibilities


Aktuelle Anwendungsbereiche umfassen z. B. Lernsoftware für Auszubildende oder auch Apps für die technische Kundenbetreuung.
In der Automobilindustrie hat Renault ein Formel 1-Fahrzeug durch die HoloLens zum Leben erweckt und der deutsche Industriekonzern Thyssenkrupp will mit seiner Version die Wartungsarbeiten an Fahrstühlen durch Informationsprojizierung vereinfachen.

Für Held+Team stehen natürlich die vielfältigen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten im Gesundheitsbereich im Vordergrund.
Gerade bei komplexen Sachverhalten, wie der menschlichen Anatomie, eignet sich die holografische Darstellung, um Wissen zu vermitteln und besser verständlich zu machen.
So plant der Chirurg Dr. Shafi Ahmed diese Technologie in seine OPs einzubinden.
Die HoloLens dient hierbei als zusätzliches Hilfsmittel.

Unter anderem könnte so medizinisches Fachpersonal einen erleichterten Zugriff auf Patienteninformationen bekommen oder direkt an den Hologrammen Notizen hinterlassen. Die HoloLens soll darüber hinaus zu Ausbildungszwecken genutzt werden.

Current areas of application include e.g. Learning software for trainees or apps for technical customer support.

In the automotive industry, Renault has brought a Formula 1 vehicle to life with the HoloLens and the German industrial group Thyssenkrupp wants to use its version to simplify maintenance work on elevators by projecting information.

For Held+Team, the focus is of course on the wide range of possible applications in the health sector. Holographic representation is particularly suitable for imparting knowledge and making it easier to understand when it comes to complex issues such as human anatomy. The surgeon Shafi Ahmed for example plans to integrate this technology into his ORs. In this case the HoloLens serves as an additional tool.


Held+Team


With the acquisition of this technology, we want to create a new service for our customers. It allows us to present our design in a new dimension and use this technology to communicate with our customers about the project in a targeted manner.

Especially in situations when we are not in the same room with our customers, this technology can help to evaluate the design together. We at Held+Team are convinced of the HoloLens technology and we look forward to inspiring our customers with the new possibilities.
